Abstract

Considerable attention has been focused on developing advanced thermal interface materials (TIMs) that utilize the extraordinarily high axial thermal conductivity of carbon nanotubes (CNTs). For CNTs, theoretical predictions suggest thermal conductivity values as high as 3000 Wm?1K?1 and 6600 Wm?1K?1 for individual multi-wall and single-wall CNTs, respectively. Compared to the thermal conductivity of state-of-the-art thermal interface materials, the axial thermal conductivity of CNTs is at least two orders of magnitude greater.  In this talk he will share our efforts in the assembly of vertically aligned CNT based TIMs.

Two-dimensional (2D) nanomaterials such as graphene, boron nitride (BN), and molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) have been attracting increasing research interests in the past few years due to their unique material properties. However, lacking reliable large-scale production methods is an inhibiting issue for their practical applications. Here he will talk about scalable methods for the fabrication of two-dimensional materials and the applications of two-dimensionals materials in electronic packaging, energy storage, and sensor.
