Abstract:
Boron nitride (BN) nanosheets are an important member of two-dimensional (2D) nanomaterials and have a hexagonal structure similar to graphene. Because of its white color, they are also called as “white graphene”. BN nanosheets have many properties distinct to graphene and unique applications not available to graphene. Our current research interests focus on BN nanosheets synthesis, new property exploration and their applications on environmental protection and energy storage. This presentation reports our recent research in BN nanosheets for efficient oil-water separation [1], strong resistance to oxidation and related applications in protecting metals from oxidation and corrosion [2], excellent dielectric screening properties of BN nanosheets [3], production of BN colloid solution, free-standing membranes and ultralight aerogels from functionalized BN nanosheets [4], reusable substrates for surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) [5], special surface adsorption properties [6] and improving cycling life of Li-S batteries [7].
