Suzhou Institute of Nano-tech and Nano-bionics (SINANO), CAS, is jointly founded by Chinese Academy of Sciences, the government of Jiangsu province, the government of Suzhou city and Suzhou Industrial Park. The construction cost was 428 million Yuan and the site ocupies an area of about 100 acres.

On March 27, 2006, four founders signed the memorandum to name the institute as "Suzhou Institute of Nano-tech and Nano-bionics” and then began its early preparation. | | On September 18, 2006,four founders signed the agreement. | | On December 31, 2006, the phaseⅠconstruction of SINANO started. | | On January 30, 2008, SINANO moved from its temporary office into its new office building, located in China International Nanotech Innovation Park. On July 22, 2009, SINANO received the official approval of being as the central legal entity from the State Commission Office for Public Sector Reform. | | On December 9, 2009, SINANO passed the acceptance check by founders and successfully completed the phase I construction. The institute entered the normal operation phase. | | On November 15, 2010, the phaseⅡconstruction project held a grand foundation ceremony and the CAS and local governments cooperated again to open SINANO’s new chapter. | | In June, 2013, the new building of phaseⅡconstruction project pass the acceptance and inspection by founders. | |
