Experience:

PhD in Southeast University, China, in 1988. Visiting Fellow at the Microelectronics Research Centre, Cavendish Laboratory, Cambridge University, UK, in 1989, sponsored by the Visiting Fellowship from the UK Science and Engineering Research Council (SERC). Joined the Central Microstructure Facility, Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, UK, as a senior scientist in 1993, and became a Principal Scientist and Group Leader in 1999, responsible for the Microsystem Technology Centre. In 2009 he was recruited by the Chinese Government under the “Thousand Talents” scheme and returned to work full time at the Suzhou Institute of Nanotech and Nanobionics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. In his 20 years career in the UK, he has participated 25 research projects of various levels. Among them 12 are European joint research projects. His expertise is in micro and nanofabrication technologies. He has authored and co-authored over 190 technical papers and published 4 books. He is a Fellow of UK Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). After his return to China, he set up the Printable Electronics Research Center (PERC) at the Suzhou Institute of Nanotech (SINANO), which is the first of its kind in China. The Center is now the leading group in China to develop printed electronics. With his contribution to the scientific and technology development in China, he was elected as the “2010 Scientific Chinese of the Year”.
