Visiting of Prof. Peter Bäuerle from Ulm University

Author:MA Changqi Update time:Mar 21, 2012
On March 15th, Prof. Peter B?uerle from Ulm University (Germany) visited SINANO and gave a talk on “Functional Thiophene-Based Nanomaterials: Synthesis, Characterization and Application”.
In his talk, Prof. B?uerle presented detailed structure-property-performance relationships of oligothiophene-based nanomaterials, and some intriguing achievements of his research group in the area of small molecule organic solar cells. The talk also addressed the challenges essential to the success of organic solar cells. After the lecture, Prof. Peter B?uerle had extensive discussions on organic photovoltaic materials with research scientists from SINANO.

Prof. Peter B?uerle presently is vice president of Ulm University and holds a Chair for Organic Chemistry at the University of Ulm (Germany). He is director of the Institute of Organic Chemistry II and Advanced Materials. He isco-founder of the company Heliatek (Dresden, Germany).

His current research interests include organic materials; in particular organic semiconductors and conductors, conjugated poly- and oligothiophenes. Synthetic strategies and new reactions to their functionalization, structure-property relationships, self-assembling properties, and their applications in electronic devices, in particular, in organic solar cells are investigated. The results have been published in ca. 240 peer-reviewed scientific papers, including book chapters and patents.
