Prof. Tsu-Wei Chou Visited SINANO

On Arpil 16, Prof. Tsu-Wei Chou from the University of Delaware was invited to visit SINANO.

During his visit, Prof. Chou also gave a talk entitled "Carbon Nanotube-Based Fibers and Composites". Prof. LI Qingwen hosted the lecture which Prof. YANG Hui, Director of SINANO and many other research staff and graduate students attended. In his presentation, Prof. Chou reviewed the recent progresses on the sensing technique to detect microcracks and synthesis and applications of carbon nanotube fibers.

Dr. Tsu-Wei Chou is the Pierre S. du Pont Chair of Engineering at the University of Delaware. Dr. Chou received the Ph.D. degree in materials science from Stanford University in 1969 and then joined the University of Delaware. He was one of the founders of the Center for Composite Materials in Delaware. Dr. Chou is now the editor-in-chief of Composites Science and Technology, and have published more than 325 papers, wrote 2 books on material science. Chou is the fellow of ASME, ASM, ASC, AcerS, TMS and AIAA, and a recipient of the Charles Russ Richards Memorial Award, Worcester Reed Warner Medal, Distinguished Research Award of American Society for Composites, Francis Alison Medal and Medal of Excellence in Composite Materials. Dr. Chou has been named among the top 100 materials scientist of the past decade (2000-2010) by Times Higer Education (ranked 34th). Dr. Chou is honored as a World Fellow by the International Committee on Composite Materials.
