The 3rd International Conference on Bio-Sensing Technology 2013 took place at Sitges of Spain on 12-15 May 2013. Dr. Tao Kong, from Prof. Guosheng Cheng’s group of Nanobiomedicine Division, was invited to attend the conference by the worldwide famous journal company- Elsevier Inc. The scopes of the conference were biomarkers, sensing technologies, instruments, data processes and system integrations. Several famous biosensing companies, for example, Palm Instruments BV, DropSens, Optics Balzers, also exhibited their latest products during the conference.
During the conference, Dr. Tao Kong presented a poster entitled “An Acute Myocardial Infarction Biosensor Based on Si Nanowire Field-effect Transistors”, regarding to the research results of their group. In their work, label-free biosensors with FET configuration for electrical detection of cardiac troponin I (cTnI), a highly sensitive and selective biomarker of acute myocardial infarction (AMI), were demonstrated. Two sensing strategies, I-V method (Biosens. Bioelectron. 2012, 34, 267-272) and noise spectroscopy (Appl. Phys. Lett. 2012, 101, 93704) were utilized to characterize the performance of the fabricated biosensor.
Many researchers from Germany, South Korea and United Kingdoms etc. showed their interests on his poster, as well as SINANO. During the conference, Dr. Kong also talked and shared the SINANO information with some professors from domestic universities including East China Normal University, Soochow University and Shenzhen University etc. This conference provided an opportunity for research staff of SINANO to widen the academic exchange with global profession, and to present their latest results as well.
Remind: the next biosensor conference – BIOSENSOR 2014 will be held on 27-30 May 2014 at Melbourne, Australia.
