On January 6th, invited by Professor CHEN Liwei, Prof. Yin-Thai Chan from Singapore National University visited Sinano and made a report named “Heterostructured Colloidal Semiconductor Nanocrystals and Their Applications in Optoelectronics”.

Prof. Chan’s research interest is focused on colloidal semiconductor nanocrystals and their unique physicochemical properties. In this report, Prof. Chan elaborated how shape-anisotropic, heterostructured semiconductor nanocrystals show large promise in terms of optoelectronic applications, and the preparation of LED with good photoelectric properties can be controlled. Prof. Chan’s wonderful work and academic report raised a heated discussion and deep reflection.

Dr. Chan Yin Thai is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and holds a joint appointment as a Research Scientist at the Institute of Materials Research & Engineering (IMRE), A*STAR. He obtained his B.S. in Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley in 2001. He then completed his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2006, followed by a postdoctoral stint at Stanford University from 2006-2008. He joined the faculty at NUS in 2008, becoming Associate Professor in 2014.
